flower boys
A four way performance art piece presented at Lauren Powell Projects combining shibari, floral practice, and improvised cello. Shibari artist Oat Montien tied model Eddie Yao in a durational process that emphasized structure, pacing, and physical awareness. Florist Jiahao Peng arranged and altered flowers throughout the performance, introducing a parallel process of construction and change. Sebastian Lee performed improvised cello in response to the actions in the space, adjusting texture and timing as the work developed. The performance examined relationships between body, material, and sound through real-time collaboration.
sunset hiking club
As part of Lauren Powell Projects’ Sunset Hiking Club series, cellist Sebastian Lee performed a solo cello set at the summit of a hike during sunset. Presented in an outdoor, site-specific context, the performance engaged with the surrounding landscape and changing light, using live sound to mark time, place, and collective arrival at the summit.
kurabo
Kurabo is a recorded solo performance created as a promotional video for a Kurabo denim line by All Time High by DJ Excel. Performed by Sebastian Lee with original composition by Jordan Fox, the piece translates the material qualities and rhythm of denim into movement and sound.
cruse
Cruse is a performance art piece choreographed by sculpture artist Lukas Geronimas, translating sculptural thinking into movement and spatial composition. The work features improvised cello by Sebastian Lee, responding in real time to the physical structure of the choreography, alongside foley sound design by David Zuckerman. Together, movement and sound operate as interconnected systems, emphasizing process, material awareness, and live responsiveness.
chelleh vibes
An improvised cello performance by Sebastian Lee was presented alongside produced Persian music by Danial Khorsandi for Chelleh Vibes, an event celebrating the Iranian holiday Yalda. Hosted by Diary Concept Store and Shimoh Design, the performance explored dialogue between live improvisation and electronic production, connecting contemporary sound practices with cultural tradition.
